Larger than expected, but made out of a brittle plastic. I do not know how long they will last if dropped.

My dog, Bailey, really loves this attachment! He comes running over to me whenever I bring it out for a brushing/vacuuming. My only complaint is that it doesn't stay attached to the vacuum handle very well & I usually have to hold onto both parts so it won't come off. I may tape it on each time to see if that works any better but for now its OK.
