Dense and spongy gasket is about 3/8" thick / 7.2" in diameter and used for central vacuum motors. The purpose of this gasket is to prevent metal on metal contact when bolting your motor. Some units will have specific better-fitting gaskets included. If this is the case for your vacuum, please re-use the original gasket.

This gasket fit perfectly. Will keep it in stock because their old gasket was in very good shape, so I didn't need this one. It looked to be high quality

Does this gasket set on the top of the motor just under the lid?

This gasket is only for the wider part of the motor to sit on. It doesn't replace any top gasket or mesh or foam on top of the thinner side of the motor.
